If we decide we are not able to provide you with direct advocacy services, you have the right to:
information and referrals
a letter explaining our decision
Rights of Clients we Represent
Clients of Disability Rights Center (DRC) have the right to:
prompt and ethical representation.
be involved in the decision about how DRC can best represent you.
be informed of all activity in your case
approve any action before it is taken
a written explanation if DRC decides it can no longer represent you.
Confidentiality
We keep all information about you confidential
It will not be released without your written permission
There is one exception to this rule. Agencies that fund us have the right to review client files in order to make sure that DRC is meeting the requirements of its contract or grant. More than one agency funds DRC. Only the agency that funds our activity on your behalf would be able to look at your file. If you wish to know which agency is funding our activity on your behalf, please ask us.
Complaints
If you are not happy with how DRC has handled your call or your case:
you should discuss this with the individual staff person involved,
you may contact the staff person's supervisor,
you may file a formal grievance with the Executive Director if the problem is not resolved.
